It would be wonderful if you can enjoy gardening with all your family members. It’s not just about spending a quality time together, but it can make all of us remember that we are connecting with nature. Plant some seeds, watch them grow, seeing the fruits of whole family labor and eating the delicious fruit grown on the trees on the family farm. Even your kids can learn many things from gardening. Other than physical aspects of gardening itself, they will learn about understanding responsibility and knowing about the circle of life.

You can share the gardening work to all your family members. The younger ones can help you to dig holes, place the seeds in it, and cover them up afterwards. In the other hand, the older ones can fill the watering can and sprinkle the plants. As they continue to care for the garden family, you can teach the children about their responsibility on their own plants. Isn’t that a good idea?

By allowing the children to help you in gardening, you can teach them tenderly that life has a cycle. The plants that came from seeds will grow, having a bloom flowers, turn wilt and die. This way, your children will respect the circle of life better. The lessons that come from the warm family will be easier to remember by everyone. Just remember to buy the proper gardening tools that suitable for your children before asking them to help you in the garden.

From economy point of view, growing peanuts it’s not quite a brilliant idea. Because the price of peanuts is relatively low. But if you like the idea about teaching your kids about gardening, growing peanuts will be a good alternative. Kids usually love the opportunity to create, and believe it or not gardening is a creative art that can easily be developed. Planting the seeds, growing them, harvesting and eat the peanuts together will become a very exciting experience for the whole family.

After you prepare the proper gardening equipment that can be used by your kids and lecturing them a little about gardening, then you can start with planting the peanut with the reddish brown skin on it or even the entire peanut with hull. Make you plantings 1 to 2 inches deep and make sure you plant them in well drained soil keeping the peanuts warm until it germinates which it will in about 7 to 9 days. Once the peanut sends out shoots it will eventually grow upwards of 2 feet tall. It will develop small yellow flowers that will be between ½ inch to 1.5 inches long and the flowers will bloom for only half a day. This is a great watching time for kids because in about 4 days a stem will grow from the flower and head down into the soil. This is where the seed pods will grow, at the end of the stem and those seed pods will be peanuts in the shell. This process usually takes about 90 days from planting, but the original planted peanuts need to stay underground for a total of 140 days before you are to harvest the new crop which is about a total of 130 days from sprout to harvest. So have your peanut planters keep a calendar in their peanut logs.

The weather is not something you can controlled. But at least you can keep your eye on the rain. If they need water, then water them, but do not over water them. At last, the kids get to harvest them and remember that the whole plant needs to be pulled up, sometimes with the help of a broad tines spading fork and since peanuts need to cure the kids usually get to hang them on strong string from the garage rafters so keep them out of the paths where family and friends enter in the house should you happen to have an attached garage. It will take about seven days for them to cure.

Have you heard of it? Even if you didn’t know much about plants, you still can make a nice and wonderful garden at your house. If you have a water conservancy problem or are never home to maintain a garden, but still want color, consider building a rock garden. If you already have a garden, you can fill up a bad space by building it. Here are some steps that recommended.

You can start by collecting rocks from all the places you visits. You can create an incredible rock garden and before you place each new rock you should label them with a permanent magic marker on the bottom of each rock. You will remember where they all come from this way. If you want your garden more beautiful, try to collect stones with different colors as much as possible.

If you want to have a great watching time at your rock garden, you may want add a small water treatment fountain or water ball. Should you happen to live by a good stream or a river and decide to take rocks from the river or stream beds make sure you are not violating any EPA laws. You need to decide if you want to have your rock garden have elevation in some parts of it and if you do then a pile of sand will be a good base for creating “rises” or “hills”. If you are working with sandstone remember sandstone crumbles with time. Taller rocks go in the center or in the back depending on your design. Your rock garden only requires little maintenance and also being a memory garden.
